6 Simple Ways to Keep Hair Happy & Healthy During Winter

Have you ever noticed your hair isn’t as sleek in the winter months as it was in summer? That’s because going from cold air into the warm can play havoc with our locks, removing its moisture and leaving us with dry, frizzy hair. But don’t fear! We’re here to help. Simply follow our 6 top tips to help ensure your locks stay hydrated and looking beautiful all through the season.

Use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner

Swap your summer shampoo and conditioner for ones that have been specially formulated to treat dry and frizzy hair. Ask your stylist for their recommendation based on your hair type.

Treat your locks to regular hair masks

Replenish limp, lifeless locks with regular hair masks. As with most products, you may need to experiment with a few to find the mask that works best for you.

Protect your hair with heat defence products

Use an oil, serum or spray before blow drying or styling your hair with heat. These clever products form a barrier between your hair and the heat source, preventing damage and helping to leave it silky smooth. It will also carry on working to defend your locks against central heating too – bonus!

Tame your tresses with frequent trims

Banish those nasty, frizz inducing split ends by getting regular trims from a professional hairdresser. Combine the visit with a deep conditioning treatment and you’ll leave the salon full of confidence thanks to your replenished luscious locks.

Allow your hair to air dry

As we’ve already mentioned, one of the reasons hair can look less than lovely during winter is because central heating draws the moisture out of it. So, after washing your hair with your moisturising shampoo, let it dry naturally. Though this method may be chilly, your hair will thank you for it in the long run.

Use low-alcohol styling products

Styling products containing a high level of alcohol can dry out your hair and leave it feeling brittle. So, before soaking your do in hairspray or spreading mousse through your tresses, check the ingredients of the product to make sure it’s low or zero alcohol.
